In 1984, Don's Sportsman Shop, Inc. began its retail operation as a small fishing store that offered a few athletic items. Over the next 10 years, the athletic portion of the business grew. Eventually the fishing department was phased out leaving a full-line athletic business. It took several years in operation to evolve into what our community needed from a sporting goods store.
Serving the retail trade, as well as team, recreational and school athletics, Don's has grown from a one man operation to over 15 employees. We have tripled our square footage through the years to keep up with the needs of Plaquemine and surrounding areas. In September 2015, Don's relocated all of its operations to the Brusly area to become more centralized to its customer base.
Don's recognizes that its success has always been due to the patronage and strong loyalty of its customers to the products and services we provide. In addition, our access to the community and its activities and having the right product at the right time has been the key to our success.
